A Walk Through Barcelona

Somehow I haven't updated this blog for 8 months now (Oops), and in those 8 months I had the opportunity to travel to Spain and Greece this summer with family and friends. I thought it might be a bit much to bombard  everyone with everything I did while over in Europe so I'm gonna break it down into 4 posts:
  • Barcelona
  • Santorini
  • Greek Islands
  • Athens

  • I first arrived in Barcelona after a 9 hour plane ride and even though I was dead exhausted, I was amazed by the city and completely caught off guard by the beauty of the Barcelona.

Just a casual view from my apartment doors.

I only stayed 4 days in Barcelona, which was enough to get all the major tourist attractions covered, and get a bit of shopping done. That said, I was kinda a little bit disappointed in the shopping (specifically Zara and Mango), but that just meant I had more Euros to spend i n Greece. The first day we wandered around without a purpose but discovered some amazing areas of Barcelona.

But on the second day we went in with a plan of attack to conquer La Rambla. All the trees forming a canopy over the cobble stone walkways were beautiful and gave a little break from the hot sun.  We followed the path all the way down to the port and from there explored the Gothic Quarters. The Gothic Quarters was an area full of beautiful buildings with intricate designs. And a little bonus: I got to have a fish pedicure!

During my stay I also managed to drag myself up the hill of Barcelona to get to Park Guell which is one of the most popular attractions in Barcelona ( I felt like I had run a marathon after climbing up to the Park). When you get to the very top of the Park you can see a stunning view of the entire of Barcelona, so the 40 minutes of walking, read dragging myself, uphill was worth it.

I can now say that Barcelona is my favourite city I've been to, especially since I didn't go in with very high expectations. The food was amazing, the people were kind ( and not to mention gorgeous), and it offers anything you could possibly want, including a beach. If you haven't been to Barcelona yet, you need to add this beautiful city to your travelling bucket list.
